چکیده

We investigate the pulsational properties of Pre–Main-Sequence (PMS) stars by means of linear and nonlinear calculations. The equilibrium models were taken from models evolved from the protostellar birthline to the ZAMS for masses in the range 1 to 4 M⊙. The nonlinear analysis allows us to define the instability strip of PMS stars in the HR diagram. These models are used to constrain the internal structure of young stars and to test evolutionary models. We compare our results with observations of the best case of a pulsating young star, HR 5999, and we also identify possible candidates for pulsational variability among known Herbig Ae/Be stars which are located within or close to the instability strip boundaries. Subject headings: stars: formation – stars: evolution – stars: pre–main-sequence

Comparative seismology of pre- and main sequence stars in the instability strip

Pulsational properties of 1.8 M⊙ stellar models covering the latest stages of contraction toward the main sequence up to early hydrogen burning phases are investigated by means of linear nonadiabatic analyses. Results confirm that pre-main sequence stars (pms) which cross the classical instability strip on their way toward the main sequence are pulsationally unstable with respect to the classic...

THE EFFECT OF COSMIONS ON THE STABILITY OF MAIN SEQUENCE STELLAR CORES

We have studied the effect of hypothetical Cosmions on the core stability of main sequence stars (of populations I and II). Cosmions, with a mass of 4-10 Gev/c2 and a scattering cross section with nucleons of approximately 10-36 cm2 could prevail in transporting heat in the stellar cores. Raby [17] showed the existence of a local thermal instability caused by the presence of Cosmions in the sol...

Observations of Pulsating Stars

Pulsations discussed will begin at the “top” of the instability strip with pulsating red giants and Miras, which are evolved stars nearing their own demise. The next discussed will be the Cepheids, both the “Classical” ones as well as the W Virginis (Population II stars). While moving down the instability strip of the HR Diagram, the next major type of variable (pulsating) star are the RR Lyrae...

Stellar Evolution and Variability in the Pre-ZAHB Phase

Context. One of the most dramatic events in the life of a low-mass star is the He flash, which takes place at the tip of the red giant branch and is followed by a series of secondary flashes before the star settles on the zero-age horizontal branch (ZAHB). Yet, no stars have ever been positively identified in this key phase in the life of a low-mass star (hereafter the “pre-ZAHB” phase). Aims. ...

Pulsating and nonpulsating stars in Hyades observed by Hipparcos satellite

A study of the stars in the instability strip of Hyades cluster has been performed taking into account the new estimate of the stellar parallaxes. For taking advantage of the improved accuracy of the distances and hence absolute magnitudes it is necessary to separate the photometric effects of close companions, which appear quite common in Hyades. The δ Scuti stars, differently from nonpulsatin...
